A NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) code is a standardized numeric code that classifies a business by its primary economic activity, used across US federal statistics, contracting and regulatory data.

Filtering enforcement or award data by NAICS prefix turns a firehose of official records into a targeted list for a specific vertical (e.g. 311 for food manufacturing, 23 for construction).
